Sarah has extensive experience in working with children and families to increase health and harmony. Sarah's approach to family therapy emphasizes creating a safe place for all members of the family. She encourages the family to experiment with new, and more compassionate, ways of interacting with each other. She attempts to help families shift from blame and frustration toward a more supportive and accepting environment. With this goal families can recreate the home environment to be a place of safety instead of strife. The home can become a safe haven from which all family members are better equipped to deal with the trials and tribulations that life inevitably creates.
Sarah has worked with children and families in a therapeutic setting since 1998. In her work with children and adolescents she has learned that it is often most beneficial to include the family given the profound influence of family life on children. However, the amount of time spent working individually or as a family depends on the developmental level of the child, the specific needs of the child, and the type of change being sought. Some children benefit most from having the opportunity to explore issues on an individual basis while other children benefit most from greater involvement of family members or parents. Sarah will work with you and your child to develop a plan specific to your families needs.
